Nationality and customs

The residents of Nanming town are mainly Dong and Miao, and a few of Han immigrants. Every family sticks couplets and sweeps yanggou (local dialect: meaning "drainage ditch" around the house). Ten days before the Chinese new year, killing pigs and eating soup (relatives and friends call to have dinner and eat meat) "beating Ciba" is very lively.

"Beating Ciba" is a long-standing folk custom in Nanming town. "Beating Ciba" is very strenuous. In the Southern Ming Dynasty, it was called "ocnamv" in Dong language and "jidongsi" in Chinese. In 1941, the 666 year old name of "jidongsi" was changed to "Nanming". Nanming refers to all the stockades around Tianba, such as Sitou, Yongxing street, YaZhai, xingzhai, tunjiao, piaozhai, madaping, minzhai, cengezhai, etc. The head of the division was named after the Chixi Xiaodong barbarian officer in the past. Nanming town is an important tourist town in Jianhe county. The main tourist attractions are Daheba, jinyandong, jiangkouden, Tangpo, Hekou kaizhai riverbed, Nanming Guiping reservoir, Nanming Hekou reservoir (south of Hekou village yannaozhai, 1km away from yannaozhai) and Huangtupo in Guidan.
