It is connected with Haluo and Dianbu in the East, hougumo in the south, houdinaitou in the West and northwest, and Gangu in the north. The rural area is 29.84 square kilometers. High mountains stand on both sides of the East and the west, with an altitude of about 2700 meters. Lianzhalo river runs through the middle of the river, with the lowest altitude of 1700 meters. Niuhou highway passes through the countryside. Kekejue, which governs suoluoju village, is 1800 meters above sea level, 38 kilometers away from the county seat. It governs 6 villages and 26 groups in luojiu, Laba, Zhuju, Caihong, Shituo and maguqian. Among them, 2475 are Yi nationality and 2 are Han nationality. The population density is 83 per square kilometer.

The township was built in September 1956, and is located on the right bank of lianzhalo River in Caihong village. In October 1958, Jianxiang people's Committee. In April 1968, the Township Reform Committee was established to replace the Township People's Committee. In 1969, the township government moved to kekejue. In March 1974, it was converted into a commune. On July 12, 1981, the commune reform committee was changed into a management committee. In July 1984, the township system was restored and the township government was established.

On January 12, 2021, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Caihong Township and establish lihougumo town. The administrative region of hougumo town is the former Caihong Township and hougumo township. The people's Government of hougumo town is located at No.1 baga street, alebaga village.

In 1990, the total agricultural output value of the township was 677600 yuan (248200 yuan for agriculture, 69900 yuan for forestry, 210200 yuan for animal husbandry, 149300 yuan for sideline and fishery); the area of cultivated land was 4754 mu, and the total grain output was 725000 kg. The main products are corn, potato, buckwheat, walnut, pear and pepper. There are 692 yellow cattle, 11 Buffalo, 30 horses, 2787 pigs, 2127 goats and 1725 sheep. There are 1 commercial purchasing and marketing group and 1 Bank Credit Union in the township, 5 rural primary schools with 120 students, 1 health center and 1 medical staff.
