In 1958, it belonged to Kalun commune of Lanqi. In 1961, it was set up as Sidaogou commune. In 1984, it was changed to township. In 1997, it covers an area of 101.6 square kilometers and has a population of 8000. It has jurisdiction over six administrative villages, namely Miaogong, henghezi, Erdaogou, Sidaogou, yongheyi and lawanggou.
