Xiaomo town

Xiaomo Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Haifeng County, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southwest of Haifeng County, adjacent to the sea in the southeast, Huangbu town of Huidong County in the west, Houmen town across the chishi River in the north, and EBU town in the northwest, with a total area of 34.45 square kilometers. As of October 2019, Xiaomo town has jurisdiction over 6 administrative villages and 1 community.

Xiaomo town is named Xiaomo because it is located in Xiaomo polder. Wei was originally called hongguanwei, also known as wangguanwei. Xiaomo is located in Honghai Bay, 25 meters above sea level. It has a hilly terrain with a coastline of 19.5 kilometers and a vast shallow beach.

Historical evolution

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Xiaomo was a village on the coast of the South China Sea, formerly known as gangguanwei, also known as wangguanwei.

During the period of the Republic of China, Huiyang County successively belonged to five districts, six districts, seventeen districts, eight districts and twelve districts.

In June 1949, the town was liberated.

In 1950, it belonged to eight and twelve districts of Huiyang county.

In 1952, Xiaomo and yuanao townships were divided into four districts of Haifeng County.

In 1953, it belonged to Houmen district.

In 1958, it was incorporated into EBU people's commune.

In April 1965, Xiaomo people's commune was established.

In March 1984, the society was abolished and divided into districts.

In April 1987, the district was removed and the town was built.

Shanwei Fishing Song

Shanwei Fishing Song is a folk song sung by fishermen in the coastal area of Shanwei City in eastern Guangdong Province. Local fishermen are usually divided into land fishermen and sea fishermen, and sea fishermen are also divided into "tugboat" fishermen and "Ou boat" fishermen. The traditional Shanwei fishing songs refer to the songs sung by Ou boat fishermen. Ou boat fishermen are commonly known as "Danmin", so the fishing songs are also known as "dange". They are mainly distributed in Xingang, Jiesheng and Magong in Shanwei City, Houmen and Xiaomo in Haifeng County, Jiazi and Jieshi in Lufeng city.
