Mingshantou town

Mingshantou town belongs to South Yiyang County, Hunan Province. Located on the Bank of Datong Lake, it was withdrawn from the district in 1956 to build Mingshan Township, changed into a commune in 1958 and built into a town in 1983. Located in the southeast of the county, it covers an area of 62.66 square kilometers (2017) and cultivated land of about 52000 mu. It has jurisdiction over 20 villages, 2 fishing grounds, 2 community neighborhood committees and 328 Village (neighborhood) groups. 32347 people in the town (2017). Mingshantou town is adjacent to the golden waterway of Ouchi River in the north and Datong Lake in the south. It is rich in fertile fields, water systems and products.

General situation of villages and towns

The water and land transportation of Mingshantou town is convenient. S202 line and Fengnan line pass through the county, 20 kilometers away from the county. It is an important transportation hub of Nanxian county. Ouchi River and Datong Lake are located in Huaihe, connected with the Yangtze River and the four water systems of Hunan, Ziyuan, Yuanli. They are known as the "golden waterway". They are a 500 ton port and an important material distribution center. Mingshan is rich in water, soil and resources. It is rich in seedlings, new special aquatic products, grain, cotton, oil, hemp, vegetables, pigs and other bulk agricultural products. It is the main producing area of Dongting three fir wetland seedlings in Dongting Lake area, such as Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Taxodium ascendens and so on, and the main supply place of river crab seedlings in Northern Hunan. It is also the well-known "hometown of Dongting Lake Wetland seedlings" and "hometown of breeding". Nanxian Minghua textile raw materials Co., Ltd. and Nanxian Lihua Flour Industry Co., Ltd. are the key enterprises in the town. The historical sites include Tang tombs in Shichang and Mingshan thatched cottage built in Ming Dynasty. Wu Changjiang, a national model worker, is the leader of Mingshan.
