Guantang Township
Guantang township is located in the northwest of Hengshan, 44 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Changqing Township and Baiguo town in the East and Juanshui Township in the south. Xinqiao Town in the West and Xialing Township in Xiangtan County in the north. Guantang has convenient transportation, 314 provincial road runs through the territory from east to west, and every village has roads. There are 802.2 hectares of paddy fields, 24.45 hectares of dry soil, 1567.1 hectares of mountain forests and 115.20 hectares of water surface.
There used to be a pond in front of Laowan village, which is called Guantang. Guantang Township got its name from this.
The terrain of the township is relatively flat, flat and hilly, fertile soil. It mainly grows rice.
There is a small second type reservoir and 1458 ponds. The left main canal of Xinqiao reservoir passes through 9 villages including Shifeng, Wuxing, Tiandi, Dongyang, Xiangtang, Chaoyang, Fenglin, Xiaochong and Laowan, with a total length of 13 km. Evolution of organizational system
There used to be a pond in front of Laowan village, which is called Guantang. Guantang Township got its name from this. In 1953, Guantang belonged to the third district, with jurisdiction over four townships of adoptive mother, Dongyang, Guantang and Fenglin. In 1956, it was merged into Guantang township. In 1958, it belonged to the great people's commune. In 1959, it was changed into Baiguo people's commune. In 1961, it was separated from Baiguo people's Commune and established Guantang people's commune. In 1974, it was moved to yinglongqiao, Dongyang village. In February 1984, it was changed into Guantang township.
