Xiaoxiang Street

Xiaoxiang street is located in the central section of shigu District, Hengyang City. It faces Xiangjiang River in the East and Zhuhui district across the river. It is connected with Qingshan street in the west to Yanwuping. It borders Renmin Street in the South and Wuyi street in the north. It covers an area of 4.8 square kilometers and has a population of 48262 (2010). It governs seven communities. The government office is located in Yanwuping. There are shigu academy, Xiaoxiang garden, West Lake Park (Minghan Park), Hengyang Museum and so on.

It got its name from Xiaoxiang street. Xiaoxiang neighborhood committee was established in 1950, Xiaoxiang street was changed in 1954, Fuxing commune was changed in 1960, and Xiaoxiang street was restored in 1981. In 1996, it covers an area of 0.2 square kilometers and has a population of 36000. The office is located in Xiaoxiang street and has 15 neighborhood committees, including Shengli Road, Shaanxi lane, Lianxi lane, Siqian street, Yantang lane, qiujiaping, Changqing Road, Chengji lane, Yanwuping (1), Yanwuping (2), sangyuan Road, shigu street, Yanjiang North Road, Huaguang street and Hengnan County. In 2001, the former North District of the city was put under the jurisdiction of shigu District. In 2004, it has jurisdiction over 8 communities, namely Shaanxi lane, Huaguang, shigu, sangyuan, Yanwuping, Changqing, Siqian street and steaming water. Now there are seven communities: shigu, sangyuan, Siqian, Changqing, Yanwuping, Zhengshui and Hechi road.
