Yutong town belongs to Kangding City, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province.

On December 23, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Ganzi Prefecture to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns and townships in Kangding city and other six counties (cities) (cfzm [2019] No. 25): Yutong township was abolished and Yutong town was established. The administrative region of Yutong town was the administrative region of Yutong Town, and Yutong Town People's government was stationed at No. 1 Yeba road.

On December 24, 2019, the people's Government of Ganzi Prefecture abolished Yutong Township and established Yutong town according to the reply of Sichuan Provincial People's Government on approving Ganzi Prefecture to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns and townships in Kangding city and other six counties (cities) (cfzm [2019] No. 25). The administrative area of Yutong township was the administrative area of Yutong Town, and Yutong Town People's government was stationed at No. 1 Yeba road.
