Geography

Zhuogang town is located in the hinterland of Huangmei County in Wutou Chuwei, 9km away from the county. It belongs to the alluvial geology of the Yangtze River. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. The altitude drop is more than 10m. Wusong, the lowest point in the town, has an elevation of 11.2 points and a territory area of 163.53 square kilometers (2017). Zhuogang town is rich in cultural landscape, which has bred generations of heroes. Qu Jiusi, a great writer in Ming Dynasty, Xiong Yingchu and Wu liangyin, the revolutionary martyrs, and Zhou zhuojie, the famous modern mythological writer, were all born here. The first dragon in the Yangtze River Valley, the pebble shaped dragon, was unearthed in jiaodun. The site of Changji County in Tang Dynasty is located in guolinzui, and the Zhelin temple in Jin Dynasty is located in Xumi. It is said that it was built in Qing Dynasty Emperor Kangxi left his original works in the temple. Zhuogong is a place of late crossing, Taibai fishing songs, and Huangmei ancient ten sceneries occupy the second place. Hongren, the fifth patriarch of Chan, was born in Zhuogong, and there are many places of interest, such as limudun, huimu temple and so on. Guanshan Industrial Park in zhuogang town is one of the demonstration areas of township enterprises in Hubei Province, with a total area of 2.5 square kilometers. There are 23 enterprises of various types in the park, and 5600 jobs are arranged for labor force. It is an integrated industrial park integrating chemical medicine, building materials, grain and oil processing, agricultural means and fertilizer. Zhuogang town has strengthened enterprise restructuring, provided preferential policies, bought out the property rights of enterprises, and gradually privatized the enterprises in the park. Zhuogang town has a mid subtropical humid monsoon climate with mild climate, abundant heat, abundant precipitation, long frost free period, but uneven distribution of moisture and heat. The average temperature in the southeast is higher than that in the northwest, and that in the East is higher than that in the West. The average temperature in January is 4-6 ℃, and the lowest temperature in all places is lower than - 6 ℃. The low temperature of - 18.1 ℃ (January 31, 1969) occurred in Linxiang. The highest temperature in most areas is more than 39 ℃, and the frost free period is 270-300 days from north to south. Most of the areas can meet the heat requirement of thermophilic crops, especially double cropping rice. Zhuogang town is surrounded by mountains on three sides and has openings to the north. It is often attacked by cold waves in spring. The Cold Dew wind with low temperature and overcast rain before and after the autumnal equinox is unfavorable to the growth of crops. The annual precipitation of zhuogang town is 1200-1700mm, which is one of the areas with more rainfall in Hubei Province.

Red soil and yellow soil are representative zonal soils in zhuogang town. The non zonal soil mainly includes calcareous soil, purple soil, fluvo aquic soil (also known as fluvo aquic sand mud) and paddy soil. The soil fertility of zhuogang town is generally high, which is suitable for the development of agriculture and forestry. However, in some hilly areas, the red soil is seriously eroded and the organic matter content is low; the cold invasion field and dead yellow mud field in paddy soil are also unfavorable to the growth of crops. Zhuogang town is rich in forest plant resources, common timber species are fir, pine, Phoebe, cypress, camphor, sassafras, bamboo, etc., which are mostly distributed in the western, southern and eastern mountainous areas, of which fir is more famous.
