Wangtun Township

Wangtun township is located in the southeast corner of Kaifeng City, adjacent to Dongjiao Township in the north and Nanjiao Township in the northwest. From northeast to southwest, it is connected with Chengguan town and Fancun township of Kaifeng County respectively. The total area is 33.03 square kilometers. With convenient transportation, it is adjacent to two expressways, i.e. rinan and ashen in the East, and national highway 310 and Kaiqi highway cross the township in one south and one north.

Historical evolution

Wangtun commune was established in 1961 and changed to township in 1983. In 1997, it covers an area of 340.5 square kilometers and has a population of 18000. It has jurisdiction over 11 administrative villages, including Lizhuang, Sucun, Wucun, Tangcun, Zhangzhuang, Matou, Wangtun, hengchuanwan, Songlou, tufufen and Gaolou. In 2005, Wangtun Township, the former suburb of Kaifeng City, was put under the jurisdiction of yuwangtai district.

Township government is located in Gaolou village, about 6 kilometers away from the city center.

The industry of the township is mainly distributed in Kaifeng fine chemical industry zone, which is located in the south of Majia River on both sides of national highway 310 and Gaotang highway. Vegetables are mainly planted in the north of Majia River, and grain crops are mainly planted in the south of Majia river. The animal husbandry in the township has developed rapidly, and the breeding of cows, sheep and pigs has formed a certain scale.
