Anhou town

Anhou town is located in the south of Pinghe county. It is adjacent to Mapu and Xiahe townships in Yunxiao County in the southeast, Daxi in the West and Guoqiang in the north. Anhou, formerly known as "Empress of the temple", got its name from the fact that the polder was located behind the Manjusri temple. The town government is about 110 meters above sea level.

Anhou town has jurisdiction over 22 administrative villages and a Longdong neighborhood committee (including 20 three-star old revolutionary base villages), 271 villager groups and 190 natural villages.

In 2017, the administrative area of anhou town was 10084 hectares, with a permanent population of 55833.

Historical evolution

Anhou township was founded in October 1984 (it was built in April 1958). In 1996, anhou township was removed from the township and built into a town. There are many historical sages, including 8 Jinshi, 17 Juren and 29 Xiangsheng. Anhou town is the ancestral home of Matang Taiwanese, former vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Zhang Kehui and long Fengtou Taiwanese, and former World Bank Vice President Lin Yifu, a world-famous economist. Anhou is the birthplace of Ping'an, Houfu, Lingren, sages and successors.

Anhou is a mountainous and hilly area. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The highest peak is shizizuijian, 1174.7 meters above sea level; the lowest is Sanlong village, 81 meters above sea level. It has a subtropical monsoon climate with an average temperature of 23 ℃ and an average annual rainfall of 1600 mm. The main rivers are Dajing to Shuangma River and Baishi river. The two rivers converge to Qianyang to form Sanhe River and flow to Yunxiao river.
