Dingjiaqiao Town, belonging to Jing County, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province, is located 10 kilometers southwest of Jing County. It is adjacent to Jingchuan town and Huangcun town in the East, Huangcun town in the south, Yunling town in the west, Jingchuan town and Nanling County in the north. It has jurisdiction over 6 administrative villages, 144 villager groups and 82 natural villages.
In 2017, the administrative area of dingjiaqiao town was 5748 hectares, with a permanent population of 14016.
Division evolution
Dingjiaqiao town got its name from Dingqiao, where it was located. It was liberated in 1949 and initially built 14 administrative villages, including Dingqiao, Dingdu, Xindu, Baodun, Fengkeng, Sanpeng, shengwan, Luyuan, Guanwu, Guanzhuang, xuwan, Xiaoling and Zanying. In 1952, it was planned to build six townships: Dingqiao, Houshan, Xiaoling, Fengkeng, Guanzhuang and Xindu. In 1956, apart from the five townships of Xiaoling, Fengkeng, Guanzhuang, Dingqiao and Houshan, and the three townships of Xindu, Huangcun and WAN, some areas merged into Guanzhuang township. In 1958, it belonged to Wuxing commune (changed to Huangcun commune in 1959). In 1961, it was established as Dingqiao commune. In 1983, it was changed into Dingqiao township. In 1992, it was renamed as dingjiaqiao town. In 2005, the village level zoning was adjusted, and now it has jurisdiction over six administrative villages: Dingqiao, Houshan, Liyuan, Xiaoling, Guanzhuang and Xindu.
Topography and climate
Qingyi River runs through the central part from west to East, with mountainous area in the north and alluvial plain in the south. The terrain is flat. Sigu mountain in the west is 639.7 meters above sea level, which is the highest point in the whole territory. Huishui river flows through Jingchuan town along the southeast border and flows into Qingyi River. There are three irrigation canals in Chencun irrigation area, with an average annual temperature of 15.6 ℃, frost free period of 240 days and annual precipitation of 1500 mm.

There are more than 100 kinds of plant resources, including Sandalwood, pine, fir, cypress, camphor, maple, elm, Osmanthus fragrans, chestnut, jujube, peach, plum and so on. Among them, sandalwood is particularly rich, and there are nearly 1000 hundred years old sandalwood in the territory. Bamboo species include Phyllostachys pubescens, Phyllostachys heterocycla, etc. There are more than 100 kinds of medicinal materials, such as honeysuckle, Platycodon grandiflorum, Codonopsis pilosula, Fritillaria, etc. There are hundreds of animal resources, such as Swertia, deer, muntjac, wild boar, goat, hare, otter, badger, Agkistrodon, weasel, pangolin, pheasant, heron, owl, etc.

In the summer of 1988, there was a severe drought, with high temperature and no rain for 42 consecutive days. The surface water was cut off and the river dried up. People in Xiaoling village had difficulty in drinking water. There were 98 households and 672 people living far away from 1000 meters carrying water and rock seam seepage. 5690 mu of dry grain and 3925 mu of rice had no harvest. 62 papermaking enterprises stopped production, resulting in an economic loss of 91.25 million yuan. In April 1996, Dachong underground culvert section of the main canal was repaired, 1200 mu of paddy field was irrigated without water, and the town government mobilized three 10 × 10 diesel pumps to lift water for 27 days to ensure drinking water for human and livestock and farmland irrigation. At 5:12 on July 2, 1996, the highest flood level reached 38.17 meters, 17 houses collapsed, 4 cattle were drowned, 2 pigs were killed, 11 industrial areas were flooded, 178 poles and lines were broken, 6200 mu of farmland was flooded, 2 roads were destroyed, 127 meters, 47 bridges and culverts were destroyed, equivalent to 101.7 million yuan of economic loss. In June 1998, the highest water level reached 38.56 meters at 8:15 on the 26th, which was a once-in-a-hundred-year flood. The flood inundated 7293 mu of farmland, collapsed 13 houses, drowned one farm cow, destroyed 78 bridges and culverts, broken 112 poles and lines, and cut off power for two days. Seven enterprises along the Qingyi River were flooded, resulting in an economic loss of 112.51 million yuan.

Dingjiaqiao town has 15872 mu of cultivated land, 11962 mu of paddy field, 8 irrigation stations and water diversion from Qingyi River and Huihe river. Chencun irrigation area is one of the main grain and cotton producing areas in the county, with 3 main canals and 3 branch canals, which are self flowing irrigation with an effective irrigation area of 9670 mu. The main crops are: rice, wheat, rapeseed, cotton, beans, cocoons. Dingjiaqiao town has a tradition of producing rice paper and scissors. The rice paper produced in Xiaoling is known as "Millennium paper", which has a history of thousands of years and never stops.
