Shuangmiaoji town is located 70 km southeast of the county, adjacent to Xiaodian town in the East, Dongfei River in the west, Baoyi and Anfeng towns across the river, Yanliu town in the south, Wabu Lake in the northwest, Liugang town in the southeast, Wadong circular road passing through the town, about 80 km away from Hefei, Huainan and Lu'an, and less than 20 km away from Xinqiao Industrial Park. Covering an area of 89 square kilometers, the town has jurisdiction over 7 villages, 1 neighborhood committee and 240 villager groups, with a total number of 9860 households and a total population of over 33000. The town has 97724 mu of arable land, 11220 mu of dry land and 86504 mu of paddy field. It mainly produces wheat, rice, rape, cotton, watermelon and other characteristic products, and the livestock industry is dominated by pigs, cattle, sheep and poultry.

The origin of town name

Shuang temple is the abbreviation of shuangzhong temple. Shuangzhong Temple (also known as ancestral temple) is dedicated to Zhang Xun and Xu yuan of the Tang Dynasty, and to Ji Yun of the south. Zhang Xun, a native of Nanyang in Tang Dynasty, was a master of many books and battle array. He was a Jinshi in Kaiyuan and served as magistrate of Qinghe and Zhenyuan counties. Dialect features

Shuangmiaoji dialect belongs to Suzhou Fuyang dialect area (Anhui part of Zhongyuan Mandarin). The pronunciation is close to that of Northern Anhui Province, and quite different from that of Jianghuai Mandarin in the towns around the town. However, the town is obviously influenced by the Jianghuai Mandarin nearby because it borders on the towns that speak Jianghuai dialect in the East, South and North. The biggest feature of the speech is that the front and back nasal sounds are mixed, and a small number of entering words are retained. Some people still have the phenomenon of flat and warped tongue sounds. In terms of vocabulary, it is basically the same as the nearby towns that speak Jianghuai dialect, and is quite different from the northern Anhui Dialect. On the whole, like many other townships in the county, due to the large number of immigrants from southern Shandong in the history of the town, many characteristics of southern Shandong are retained in terms of vocabulary and pronunciation.

Silverfish

The Dongfei river outside the ancient Binyang gate runs 122 kilometers through the South Gate of the county. The middle part of the river bed is low-lying, so the water surface is about 5 kilometers wide. This is Wabu Lake, which is rich in silverfish.

Silverfish, known as chucan and Baixiao in ancient times, refers to this fish in Du Fu's poem "baixiaoqun fenming, natural two inch fish".
