Zhaitan township is located in the middle of Songyang county. The township government is located in Zhaitan village. The whole township is located in the south of songyinxi, 6.2km away from the county. It is surrounded by Yecun Township, Xinchu Township, Zhangxi Township, WangSong Township and Gushi town. The township covers a total area of 26 square kilometers, about 6 kilometers long from east to west and 5 kilometers wide from north to south, with an average altitude of 150 meters. In 1981, it was changed to Zhaitan Management Committee. In 1984, it was renamed Zhaitan township government.
