Be patient with narrow-minded people

A friend who is narrow-minded makes a mistake to himself. Forbearance is not weakness, but a manifestation of broad-minded and noble personality. Forbearance does not mean abandoning principles.

Why is a person narrow-minded? An important reason is that he is used to seeing things in isolation and still, so he is short-sighted and can't understand the multidimensional nature of things. Zhou Yu, for example, only saw Zhuge Liang's great talent. If he helped Liu Bei to become strong, he would threaten the hegemony of the eastern Wu Dynasty. He did not realize that if he was jealous of Cao Cao's millions of troops and destroyed the alliance between sun and Liu, he could only be defeated by Cao Cao's troops. Zhuge Liang, however, was soberly aware of this. On the one hand, he "disregarded the villains" and on the other hand, he skillfully dealt with Zhou Yu, which made his plan to destroy the alliance impossible. It can be seen that narrow-minded people are very easy to misjudge the situation and treat people and things in a wrong way. Therefore, forbearance to a narrow-minded person does not mean accommodation to his mistakes.

We should be tolerant to narrow-minded people, but we should never tolerate their wrong thoughts and behaviors. This is the proper way to get along with narrow-minded people.
