Historical evolution

The front seat of the government headquarters of the Macao Special Administrative Region was built in 1849. In 1881, the then governor of Macao, jasala, bought it for 21 thousand Macao dollars as his official residence, and later became the office of several local heads of Macao and Portugal.

After the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government in 1999, the buildings were restored. The renovation project roughly retains the original style of the building.
