Hougong mountain, also known as Hougang mountain and Houjia mountain, is located in the southeast of Taojiang County, Hunan Province. It is the boundary mountain between Taojiang County and Ningxiang city. With an altitude of 917.5 meters, it is the highest peak in Taojiang County.

Hougong mountain is high, dangerous, strange and beautiful. It is adjacent to Chengqiang mountain and Anhua in the West. Its peak shape is like a stone monkey, the main peak is like the forehead, the side peak is like the arm, the arm is extended like the hand, holding the red sun, just like "monkey holding the sun".

At the top of the mountain, there are "three immortals hall" and statues of "Jiang, Yang and Chen". It is said that at the end of the Tang Dynasty, there were three heroes in Hougong mountain, Jiang, Yang and Chen, who were proficient in martial arts. They rose up because they were dissatisfied with the corruption of the imperial court. The government plans to encircle and suppress the three heroes, and they return to Hougong mountain to become immortals. So far, many villages in Taojiang and Ningxiang have "three immortals Temple". During the cultural revolution, the three immortals hall was destroyed. In the 1980s, the masses raised funds to rebuild, and the four seasons were full of incense. His highness a rock crack, gushing out gurgling spring, cool and smooth, four seasons do not dry up, for hundreds of people to drink, known as Hougong spring.

Climbing on the top of the mountain, you can enjoy the beauty of mountains and rivers. The mountains are undulating and boundless. You can see Furong Town in Anhua in the west, Ningxiang River in the south, snow peak in the East, clouds in the north, and clear water cave in the clear sky.

One hundred meters to the west of the main peak is a peak, only two meters wide. Both sides are as steep as a wall, nearly a thousand feet high, straight down the bottom of the mountain, which makes people shiver. A stone mountain in the south of the main peak is hanging tens of feet in the air, leaning but not falling, which makes people fear.

Climbing route:

Take the shuttle bus from Taojiang County to Songmutang town to Taohua Lake Ferry (about 1 hour's drive), and then take a boat to climb along the mountain road.
