Kongtong reservoir is located in Pingliang City, Gansu Province. It is the mouth of Kongtong mountain gorge in the upper reaches of Jinghe River. It was started in 1971 and completed in 1980, with a catchment area of 597 square kilometers.

The reservoir is located in Pingliang City, Gansu Province, at the mouth of Kongtong gorge in the upper reaches of Jinghe River. Construction started in 1971 and completed in 1980. The catchment area is 597 square kilometers. The corresponding water surface area of the highest water level is 113 square kilometers. The total storage capacity is 29.75 million cubic meters. The maximum water depth is 61 meters and the dead storage capacity is 6 million cubic meters. The dam is 63.8 meters high and the crest is 400 meters long. It is a comprehensive reservoir mainly for irrigation. The reservoir is named after Kongtong mountain.
