Sand island of Qinghai Lake is located in the northeast of Qinghai Lake. It is an important part of Qinghai Lake area. It is only 120 km away from Xining, the provincial capital. It is a wetland type natural scenic spot. It is adjacent to Baoshan and Jinyintan prairie in the north, Qinghai Lake in the South and 151 scenic spots in the East, Jinshawan and Xiaobei Lake in the East, Daotang River and Riyue mountain in the East, Haixin mountain in the west, Gahai Lake and bird island in the West. Sand island is composed of Jinshawan and yinshawan. Among them are Sand Island Lake, Moon Lake, sun lake, Xianghu Lake, xiangnaoer wetland, yinshawan and other scenic spots. The natural landscape is rich and colorful, with distinctive features, different forms and natural interest. It is 3 kilometers wide from north to South and more than 30 kilometers long from east to west, with a total area of about 120 square kilometers. Main attractions

Sand island used to be a small island in the lake, because the water level of Qinghai Lake decreased year by year and the sand ridge protruded from the water surface to receive wind sand accumulation. Sand island of Qinghai Lake is a combination of blue sky, blue water and yellow sand. With its beautiful natural scenery, unique sand dune landscape, and its unique geographical location adjacent to gold and silver beach in the north and Qinghai Lake in the south, it attracts more and more tourists to come here for sightseeing and vacation.

Shadao scenic spot is 36 kilometers long from east to west and 3 kilometers wide from north to south, with an average altitude of 3200 meters. There are two small freshwater lakes, one named Yueya Lake and the other reed lake, under the protection of the sand dunes. The lake water mainly comes from underground springs. The lake is surrounded by abundant water and grass, which is in sharp contrast to the sand dunes in the Hanhai sea. Sand island is also an important habitat for fishing gulls. Tens of thousands of fishing gulls breed here from April to June every year. The lakeshore near the sand island belongs to Qinghai Lake Township of Haiyan County. The tourism resources of Gahai, Jinshawan, Yueya Lake, reed lake and Danli lake are excellent in combination and high in grade. They are tourism and investment hotspots in Qinghai Province and even in Western China.

To the east of the sand island and the east of the lake, there is a small North Lake with its back against the desert and Qinghai Lake. There are verdant reeds, birds and gulls flying.
