Great imperial city
In 1449 ad, the city was moved to Shanxi, and then the city was abandoned. In the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1522 A.D.), the adopted son of an Da Khan, kataiji, was named Tuotuo (also written as Tuotuo) and led the people to live here for a long time. This site city is called "Tuotuo city" (today's city). The name of Chengyu has been handed down to this day.

Located between the new and old cities in Tuoketuo County, Hohhot, it is an ancient city site built in Ming Dynasty. After being abandoned, the city wall remains well, and people call it "Chengyu".
The ancient city was expanded on the basis of "dongshoujiang city" in Tang Dynasty. In the Liao Dynasty, it was the "Dongsheng Prefecture" and commonly known as the "great imperial city". In the Jin Dynasty, Zicheng was built to the east of the great imperial city, which was called the small imperial city. In the 25th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1392 AD), it was named "Dongsheng Zuowei". The next year, it was expanded to Dongsheng Zuowei city (today's city). With a circumference of 12.5 kilometers and a wall height of about 8 meters, the city is the largest ancient city in Hohhot. There are four gates in the East, South, West and North, and a urn city. It is a large garrison city.
