Development history

Daqing Petroleum Science and Technology Museum is called "underground palace" locally. It is located in the exhibition room of Daqing oilfield development science experiment, central street, Ranghulu District. If you come to Daqing and ask where the underground palace is, I'm afraid none of the local people don't know.

In 1996, by the decision of the State Education Commission, the Ministry of civil affairs, the Ministry of culture, the State Administration of cultural relics, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the General Political Department of the people's Liberation Army, the museum was designated as the "national patriotic education base for primary and secondary schools". At present, it receives 40000 or 50000 visitors every year. Since its establishment, it has received millions of visitors.

Now the Museum covers an area of more than 7000 square meters. It is a beautiful three story building with a construction area of more than 10000 square meters.

In September 1995, the museum was rebuilt, adding chemical exhibition hall and dinosaur fossils.

The museum fully shows the brilliant history of oil and gas exploration, oilfield development and oil production in Daqing Oilfield, and shows the complex and profound Petroleum Science and production technology in front of the audience with obvious techniques, which makes people get practical inspiration and education. For this purpose, the museum has set up 35 electric models, including 1280 rock core, fossil and mineral specimens, 527 other objects, 282 technical charts, 2 large and medium-sized electronic screens and 25 models. In order to enhance the audience's sense of reality, a huge sand table of "surface construction model of Daqing oilfield (showing part of the oilfield, Longnan District and oilfield injection plant)" is displayed in the main exhibition hall, and an underground oil reservoir model of the oilfield is also built in the courtyard. Visitors can go inside to see the oil storage status and the brief process of crude oil exposed to the surface at a glance.
