Huxiu Temple

Huxiu temple is located in the eastern foot of Shishi Baogai, Fujian Province, covering an area of 80 mu. To the west is the Gusao pagoda at the top of the mountain. To the East is the beautiful Aocheng. To the east of Aocheng is the Taiwan Strait.

Huxiu temple was built in Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty, formerly known as Zhenwu palace; in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, a monk named master Qujing came out of Huxiu temple. On one occasion, Emperor Jiajing set up a Luotian festival to call him to attend the sermon, which was highly appreciated by Emperor Jiajing and granted Huxiu temple the title of "Huxiu Temple". Since then, Huxiu has surpassed the plan, Zhenli temple, Shifo temple and xiziyan, and has been known as the top four in QUANNAN, while Huxiu temple is the top four in developed areas. Since then, Huxiu temple has been repaired repeatedly, and the guanfuzi hall, Wenchang temple, twin towers, temple gate, etc. have been expanded to integrate the main construction with supporting buildings.

Changes of ancient temples

As early as the Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty (627-6500), huxiuyan built a "Zhenwu Palace" to honor Zhenwu emperor. In 1155 of Shaoxing in Southern Song Dynasty, Cai Mengliang and Cai Rulin donated and built a "Zhensheng stone niche" in Yongning pagoda, which was changed into an nunnery with a plaque named "Huxiu".

In the 24th year of Hongwu (1392) of the Ming Dynasty, Huxiu Temple became a temple where Buddhism and Taoism were integrated. During the reign of Jiajing (1522-1567), master Yunjing (surnamed Wu, from the east of shishikeng) presided over the temple, prepared to build the central hall, and established the main building scale of Huxiu temple.

In the Qing Dynasty, Huxiu Temple went through four times of reconstruction and expansion.

In 1933, Li fengyao, a Filipino Chinese from Tashi village, raised money in Luzon, and Li cangyan from Yinjiang village presided over the renovation and expansion of the temple. Huxiu temple takes on a new look. The temple has changed from Buddhism and Taoism into Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.

Since 1983, Li Shuishui, Dong lunzhu, Hong Lichun, Li Yunfeng, Li Dingguo, Yan Jinchai, Li Xianfu, Li Shengrui, Li Delang, Li fengke and others have advocated the reconstruction of the temple, and many virtuous figures, such as Yang QingQin, Li zhefen, Li Xianyi, Qiu Zhongqi, have responded warmly, and the temple has taken on a new look. At present, the main buildings of Huxiu temple include Zhenwu palace, central hall, Guanyin hall, Wenchang temple, Senluo hall, qisima hall, twin towers, banyuechi, shanmenluting, Xingfu courtyard, Laojun temple, etc.

Chants of the past dynasties

Xu Hengjian, a Juren from Jinjiang in Qing Dynasty, toured Huxiu temple and made a 118 character couplet. Zhuang Yijun, Su Jun, Huang Kehui and Zhu Wu, the poets of Ming Dynasty, Wu Lu and Zhuang Junyuan, the top scholars of Qing Dynasty, all visited Huxiu temple and left poems and couplets. Such as Zhuang Yijun's poem: "the sky wind blows down the Haiyun pass, and the cave is empty and bright. When the wind flying crane, more heard that a monk idle. Aocheng passes through the mid autumn moon, and Huxiu is at ease on the sunset mountain. If Shizi asks questions from each other, he has been pitching in the world recently. Zhuang Junyuan said that the emperor built Longji to reach the north pole and Lingzhong Huxiu to reach Nanguan. Wu Lu Lian said: according to Huxiu, yilongbo, Yijian Yingwei Tiandi Tai; wangao City, Luoyan tower, Sanqing Town, Chonggu this spring. In modern times, ye Fei, Wu Xiuquan, Yang Chengwu, Zhao Puchu, Fu Jie, Yu Yu, Liang Piyun and other people from all walks of life also donated ink treasures to Huxiu temple.

Since its reopening to tourists in 1982, Huxiu temple has attracted many overseas Chinese to come here for sightseeing, with more than 500000 pilgrims every year.

Huxiu Temple attracts tourists from all over the world with its superior geographical location, magnificent architecture and unique religious culture. The natural environment and the human environment interact and reflect each other, which is worthy of the title of "Quan Nan Sheng Guan". It is still a rare tourist attraction in Shishi, the hometown of overseas Chinese. Huxiu temple is the first batch of cultural relics protection units in Shishi City.
