Ping'an bridge Catholic Church is located in xihuamen Street (formerly Ping'an Bridge Street) in the northwest corner of Tianfu Square in the center of Chengdu, a famous historical and cultural city. It is an ancient and elegant Byzantine architectural complex - Ping'an bridge Catholic Church. It is the seat of the Bishop's office of the Catholic Diocese in Chengdu.

Introduction to scenic spots

Ping'an bridge Catholic Church covers an area of nearly 30 mu, with a construction area of 8508 square meters. In 1897, it was built by Bishop Luo Shuya of French nationality. Craftsmen were recruited from Chongzhou, Dayi, Qionglai and other places on the outskirts of Chengdu. It took seven years to complete. Heianqiao Catholic Church includes the great and small scriptures church, Virgin Mary's original sin church and Bishop's office. The church is in the shape of "ten", the Bishop's office is in the shape of "beam", and the whole building complex is in the shape of "creepy", which makes it unique, simple and elegant. Notre Dame Wuran original sin hall can accommodate more than a thousand people. The small Sutra hall is dedicated to bishops and priests. The surrounding corridors are spacious and interlinked, and the 108 nanmu corridor pillars are magnificent. The gardens in the three courtyards divide the main church and the Virgin Mary's original sin church into the standard corridor court. There are 104 rooms on two floors, which are divided into living room, dining room, office area and dormitory. The beams, columns, doors, windows and floors of the whole building are all made of Phoebe from Qionglai mountains. The materials are exquisite and precious. In the past 100 years, although the Church of Ping'an bridge has experienced war and wind and rain, it still retains its original style. In 1932, the Sichuan Army (Kuomintang warlord) fought in this street, and in 1933, it suffered the Diexi earthquake. On June 1, 1939, Japanese planes bombed Chengdu, dropping more than 10 bombs. The church was shot, and the beam on the left side of the Sutra hall was broken, and some doors and windows were damaged.
