West Central Island

Xizhong Island, located in the Bohai Sea area 58 km southwest of Wafangdian City, Liaoning Province, is 0.8 km away from the nearest point of the mainland. It belongs to the street of exchange island. It is named because it is located in the West and middle of Changxing Island and Fengming island. With a total area of 47 square kilometers, overlooking the whole island, it blooms like a lotus in the blue Bohai Sea, so it is also called lotus island.

Historical evolution

The beautiful islands and rich resources made the old Tsar envious. In 1898, they were occupied by Tsarist Russia. In 1905, they were contested by Japan. Until 1945, they returned to China.

Xizhong island is surrounded by mountains on three sides, forming a natural barrier, extending southwest to the sea and facing Dalian.

The beach of Xizhong island is sandy, with golden fine sand, soft and smooth. The nutrient content of seawater is high, with phosphate 22.18 mg, ammonium 12.21 mg, nitrate 56.47 mg, nitrite 1.43 mg and total nitrogen 70.11 mg per cubic meter of water. The average water temperature in winter and summer is - 1.05 ℃ and 25 ℃ respectively. The annual average sunshine duration is 2870.42 hours, and the sunshine rate is 64.7%. All kinds of conditions are very suitable for the production of seafood, especially the growth of ginseng, shellfish and fish. It is a rare growing area of marine treasures in China.
