During the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895, the warship Matsushima severely damaged the Northern Fleet of the Qing Dynasty, and later stationed in the waters near the Magong Fengkui peninsula. At that time, there were about 300 officers and soldiers on the ship. Later, they accidentally sank into the sea area of the wind cabinet. After years of investigation, the Japanese government discovered the murderer and executed it. The person who bombed and sank the Songdao warship and killed more than 100 Japanese officers and soldiers was the director of the ship. His father was from Northeast China and his mother was Japanese. He was born in Japan. His father was executed by the Japanese Kwantung Army for resisting Japanese atrocities. In order to avenge his father, the head of the agency used the opportunity of serving in the Japanese Navy to plan to bomb and sink three Japanese warships, one of which was the Matsushima warship.

The Matsushima Memorial Park was once set up by the Japanese government along Minquan road in Magong city. It was later demolished due to the urban planning and development of Magong city. Now it is located in Shetou mountain.
