Shangqiu, the capital of Song Dynasty

The state of song was founded in the 11th century BC, and its capital is now Shangqiu. The ancient city of the Song Dynasty is located in the southwest corner of the ancient city of Shangqiu. It is the site where Weizi was granted to the capital of the Song Dynasty in the early Zhou Dynasty.

The plan of the old city of Song Dynasty is rectangular. The east wall is 2900 meters long, the south wall is 3550 meters long, the west wall is 3010 meters long, and the north wall is 3252 meters long, with a total area of 10.2 square meters

From the spring of 1994 to the autumn of 1997, through drilling and excavation, the Sino US joint archaeological team determined the orientation, size and basic structure of the city wall.

Most of the west wall and the West sections of the south wall and the north wall are well preserved. The top of the wall is about one meter from the surface, covering a total area of 10.2 square kilometers.
