Dongda temple in Kaifeng

It is a large-scale mosque in Henan Province, commonly known as Dongda temple. It was built in Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in 1846. The Ming Dynasty was large-scale and declined in the late Qing Dynasty. Today, the temple faces east and enters the courtyard three times. The gate is five rooms wide, three bright and two dark, with a plaque of "Dongda Temple of Hui nationality" hanging on the lintel and corridor rooms on the left and right. In the right corridor room, there are two stone tablets of the Koran in Arabic of the Ming Dynasty and the temple rebuilt in Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty.

At the same time, Dongda temple also actively developed school education and founded YangZheng primary school and Mingde primary school. YangZheng primary school, the only and earliest school for Hui people in Henan Province and Kaifeng City, was founded in 1908 by Guo caochen, Wei Ziqing, Du Xiusheng and other Hui people who were enthusiastic about public welfare. The school is located in the backyard of Dongda temple. Guo caochen was the first president. At the beginning, only two classes and four grades were recruited for compound teaching. In addition to the contents of ordinary primary schools, the course also includes fasting, teaching and so on. In 1940, Guo Yifu took over the post of president, and then gradually developed to five classes. In 1946, the Hui people donated money to buy an old house, and the school expanded five classes. In 1944, on the basis of YangZheng primary school, Guo Yifu got the support of Wang Huanwu, Du Xiusheng, Du Chaofan, Xu Yaqing and Li Junling, and founded the first Hui middle school in Henan Province, namely private YangZheng middle school, in Fujian guild hall of the Council hall. Guo Yifu was the principal of the school, and the funds were mainly raised by Hui people. After liberation, tiehongqua, the head of the temple's honorary society, served as the principal of Huimin middle school in Henan Province for decades, and founded Henan ethnic secondary vocational school as the principal. There are also martial arts schools and famous teachers in the temple.

On March 18, in the first intangible cultural heritage exhibition in Henan Province, "Kaifeng stone lock" performed by the Hui team of Kaifeng Dongda Temple Martial Arts Hall was an eye opener. The stone lock technique is very popular among the Hui people in Kaifeng. They regard the stone lock as a martial arts training equipment as a game, which makes it interesting and "unique work".
