Sun Yat Sen's guild hall is located at No.23, Di'anmen East Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. It used to be the palace of the Qing Dynasty, and it was the private residence of Gu Weijun, the foreign minister in the Republic of China.

Historical development

The house is a courtyard with three entrances. The house is on the top of a ridge of hard hill with tile and clear water, surrounded by corridors, and the garden is in the northwest. Its rooms are inside and outside suites with simple furnishings. On the west wall of the outer room is inlaid a rectangular white marble carved stone, on which is engraved "at 9:25 a.m. on March 12, the fourteenth year of the Republic of China, Sun Yat Sen died here.". There is a portrait of Sun Yat Sen hanging above the stone. In the frame on the right of the portrait is the dying will, in the frame on the left is the letter to the Soviet Union, and on the adjacent wall are the general plan for the founding of the people's Republic of China, Zhongshan Quanshu, etc. After the founding of new China, the Beijing Municipal Government properly protected the house. In 1981, on the eve of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution, the memorial room was repaired. On May 24, 1984, it was listed as the third batch of cultural relics protection units in Beijing.

Deeds

At the end of 1924, Sun Yat Sen went to Beijing with illness and lived in the second Jinbei room of the house. At the beginning of 1925, Sun Yat Sen became ill and was admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital. He was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer and then moved back to his home. On February 24, Sun Yat Sen was critically ill, so he dictated "will" and "letter to the Soviet Union" here. On March 11, Wang Jingwei, Dai Jitao, He Xiangning and others were summoned to sign the will. He died at 9:25 on March 12. On April 2, the funeral committee decided to hang a plaque of "Dr. Sun Yat Sen's memorial room" at the gate of the house.
