Gao Jingyuan

Gaojingyuan is located on an island surrounded by water. The whole layout has the characteristics of Suzhou gardens. Walking into the garden gate, a phoenix shaped Taihu stone stands face to face, engraved with the word "Gaojing". It is said that it was given by Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty to the right Prime Minister Zhao Kui who lived in Liyang. The garden is full of green trees and delicious grass; ponds, rockeries, pavilions and corridors are well arranged. Jindou garden, Peony Pavilion, Wanxiang Pavilion, Qinglai thatched cottage, zoo and other attractions have their own characteristics and distribution. The most historic is the Taibai building built on the high pier. Li Bai, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, once went to Liyang three times. In the 15th year of Tianbao (756 AD), Li Bai and Cao Sheng Zhang Xu had a banquet, which was different from Liyang restaurant, and they wrote "fierce tiger". There is a full-length statue of Li Bai in the building, which reproduces the great poet's spirit of holding a cup in front of the wind and elegy.
