Zhongzheng lake, formerly known as Zhongzhen River, is located at the confluence of qiangziliniao River and Dakeng River in Meinong Town, Kaohsiung City. It was a semi artificial lake for irrigation built by embankment and water storage during the Qing Dynasty. From 1916 to 1920, the lake was transformed into a modern reservoir, including a 6m high earth rock dam, a free overflow spillway, three irrigation intake gates and two drainage gates. After the war, it was renamed Zhongzheng Lake in 1956.
