Haoyue Garden

Haoyue garden is located in the east of Gulangyu Island, covering Dingyan beach. It was built to commemorate Zheng Chenggong's historical achievements in expelling the Dutch and recovering Taiwan. Its name comes from the word "bright moon" in Zheng Chenggong's poem "I think you are sleepless, the bright moon penetrates through the curtain", which expresses the memory of the hero and the missing of Taiwan compatriots. The most eye-catching one in the park is the statue of Zheng Chenggong, 10 times the height of Zheng Chenggong. It is said that since the statue was built, Xiamen has hardly suffered from typhoon disaster.

Haoyue Garden

The statue is 15.7 meters high and weighs 1617 tons. It is composed of 625 pieces of "Quanzhou white" granite with 23 floors. At an altitude of 29.5 meters, fudingyan extends 30 meters into the sea. The terrain is precipitous and majestic. It stands on a par with the sword stone and Yindou stone in the sea.

The towering statue of Zheng Chenggong on the top of the tripod rock facing the sea has become the main building in the garden. It is also the largest statue of Chinese historical figures. The large bronze relief sculptures in the park reproduce the historical scene of Zheng Chenggong's eastward expedition to drive the lotus back to Taiwan. The scenery of Haoyue garden is charming. The architectural features of Ming Dynasty and the seagulls, trees, seascape and mountains on the seashore form a natural picture.

Traffic information

The scenic spot is on Gulangyu Island. You need to take a boat to the island. The ferry terminal of Gulangyu Island is at the end of Zhongshan Road in Xiamen city.

Railway station wharf: bus No.3, 19, 28, 5, 51, 55, 56, 67; about 10 yuan (5 km) by taxi.

Airport wharf: bus No.10 or 30; about 8 yuan (3km) by taxi

Xiamen Ferry Pier - Gulangyu piano pier: 35 yuan (the ferry is charged in one way, you need to buy tickets when you enter the island, and you need to swipe tickets when you leave the island.)

Ferry time: 5:45-0:30 the next day.

It's only about 5 minutes to walk left from the ferry terminal on the island to enter the park.
