In March 1992, it was announced by Ningbo Municipal People's government as the first batch of moral education bases for primary and secondary schools in Ningbo. In March 1995, it was announced by the people's Government of Zhejiang Province as the first batch of patriotic education bases in Zhejiang Province. In 2006, it was established as a national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council.

Interior landscape

In April 1941, the Japanese invaders occupied eastern Zhejiang. The central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the military headquarters of the New Fourth Army sent Tan Qilong, he Kexi and a large number of party, government and military cadres to eastern Zhejiang in July 1942. In Hongwei, Cibei, the CPC eastern Zhejiang District Committee was established. With Comrade Tan Qilong as secretary, they led the party, government and military work in eastern Zhejiang and Pudong. Soon afterwards, the Anti Japanese armed forces in Pudong and the armed forces of the local parties in the counties of eastern Zhejiang were unified into one“

”On April 23, 1943, Liangnong, an important town of Siming Mountain, was conquered. The CPC eastern Zhejiang District Committee and the three North guerrilla headquarters then entered Liangnong. Liangnong became the command center of the Anti Japanese base area in eastern Zhejiang. Soon after, the CPC Zhedong district committee moved to hengkantou village.

Hengkantou is located at the foot of yangerling mountain, 5 li from Liangnong in the north. It is the throat of Siming Mountain to Yinxian, Fenghua, Xinchang and Shengxian. The former site of the CPC Zhedong District Committee is located in an old wooden building in the east of the village. There are seven main buildings, four side buildings on both sides, and a courtyard in the middle. On the gate of the south building, there is a plaque inscribed by Comrade Wang Fang, "Memorial Hall of eastern Zhejiang revolutionary base.". On the marble tablet of xumizuo at the entrance, Comrade Zhang Aiping's handwriting, "the former site of the East Zhejiang District Committee of the Communist Party of China" was engraved with gold cursive characters. The former site is surrounded by high mountains, rugged paths, flowing streams, pines, cypresses and bamboos, which make the revolutionary resort lush and full of vitality.

On the west side of the South Wing building is the gate, and at the entrance stands the cursive marble tablet inscribed by former Defense Minister General Zhang Aiping, which is the former site of the East Zhejiang District Committee of the Communist Party of China. Under the eaves hung the plaque of "Memorial Hall of eastern Zhejiang revolutionary base" written by former public security minister Wang Fang. There are 162 historical photos, 39 charts and 261 revolutionary relics on display in the museum, which vividly reflects the history of revolutionary struggle in eastern Zhejiang. The former site of the CPC Zhedong District Committee is not only full of the strong characteristics of the residential buildings in Zhedong in the Qing Dynasty, but also becomes a "monument" for the revolutionary cultural relics displayed and the revolutionary connotation contained in it.

The former site of the CPC Zhedong District Committee is a key cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province, and now serves as the "Memorial Hall of Zhedong revolutionary base". There are many valuable revolutionary relics on display in the museum, showing the revolutionary struggle history of eastern Zhejiang people under the leadership of the Communist Party during the Anti Japanese war.

In hengkantou village, there are also some revolutionary sites, such as the temporary administrative office in the enemy's rear area of eastern Zhejiang during the Anti Japanese War, the Zhedong longitudinal East teaching team of the New Fourth Army, the Zhedong bank and the Zhedong newspaper office. The red star on the door wall of Zhedong newspaper and the battle mural painted by the soldiers of the training team of Zhedong column are still clearly visible.
