Cycas nature reserve is located in the southeast of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture (hereinafter referred to as Honghe Prefecture), Yunnan Province, with longitude 103 degrees 22:49-103 degrees 28:19 and latitude 22 degrees 59:48-23 degrees 4 It is located on the North Bank of the middle reaches of Yuanjiang River, between Gejiu City, Mengzi County, Pingbian Miao Autonomous County and Hekou County. Hekou County is to the East, Jinping Miao Yao Dai Autonomous County is to the south, Pingbian Miao Autonomous County is to the southeast, Gejiu City and Mengzi County are to the north. The proposed nature reserve covers an area of 31.95 square kilometers.

The Red River Cycas nature reserve is located at the junction of Gejiu City and Mengzi County, covering an area of more than 3000 hectares. It mainly aims at protecting rare plants such as cycas, Dongzong, Jinhua tea and so on along the red river. The Ministry of Posts and telecommunications has issued commemorative stamps for this purpose.
