Changchun Temple

During the construction of Zhongheng highway in those years, due to the dangerous terrain and backward technology in the mountainous area, many employees who participated in the construction were buried in the Taroko Pavilion. Changchun temple is located not far from the entrance of tailuge Canyon in Hualien County, Taiwan. It is a scenic spot in tailuge park. In memory of these great heroes, 212 employees who died on duty during the construction of Zhongheng highway were awarded the memorial tablets!

The Tang style Changchun ancestral temple is embedded in the cliff according to the terrain, standing under the cliff. It is exquisite and solemn. Fresh spring water gushes out from the cliff, forming a waterfall that falls down all the year round, forming a "Changchun waterfall", which is a grand view of Zhongheng highway. Liwu river flows in front of the temple, Changchun Tingtao is also a great scene. There is a circular trail in front of the temple for visitors to enjoy the canyon and meandering scenery. It is understood that the Changchun ancestral hall was built in 1958. The original ancestral hall collapsed in 1980 due to the earthquake, and the renovation was completed three years later. In 1987, the second collapse completely destroyed the ancestral hall. The next year, the new ancestral hall was rebuilt to the left of the original site. Among the vertical mountain walls behind the ancestral temple, zigzag steep stairs were dug out, and 380 stone stairs meandered upward, known as "TIANTI". Follow the "ladder" straight up, you can reach the Guanyin cave. Inside the cave are the construction drawings of Guanyin stone Buddha and the highway. You can also climb the loft and bell tower of Tailu standing on the cliff to overlook the zigzag river course and Canyon scenery of Liwu river.
