School history

Chengde Medical College was founded in September 1945, formerly known as Jidong military health school, with Liu Shaojiu as the first president.

In September 1947, it was merged with jizareliao military medical school into jizareliao medical school.

In January 1948, it was renamed as the fourth branch of China Medical University, and Ma Xu, a medical educator, was the director of education.

In March 1949, the school moved to Chengde, the former capital of Rehe Province, and changed its name to Rehe Medical College in May.

In 1956, the organizational system of Rehe province was abolished, and the school was under the leadership of Hebei provincial government.

In 1958, it was renamed Chengde Medical College;

In November 1982, with the approval of the Ministry of education, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and named Chengde Medical College.

In June 1996, the first batch of universities passed the qualification assessment organized by the former State Education Commission.

In June 2001, with the approval of Hebei provincial government, the Institute of specialty sericulture of Hebei Academy of agriculture and Forestry Sciences was incorporated into Chengde Medical College.

In September 2003, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as an authorized unit for master's degree.

In October 2006, the University began to recruit international students.

In November 2012, it was selected into the list of the first batch of excellent doctor education and training program Pilot Universities of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of health.

In April 2015, it was selected into the list of Pilot Universities and pilot projects of excellent doctor (traditional Chinese Medicine) education and training plan reform.
