Sichuan Conservatory of music

The predecessor of Sichuan Conservatory of music was "Sichuan Provincial Art College" founded in the autumn of 1939, and later renamed "Southwest Conservatory of music". In June 1959, it was approved by the Ministry of education as its current name. At present, the college has developed into a multi-disciplinary and multi-level art college with complete professional categories, strong teachers, perfect teaching facilities and remarkable teaching achievements.

The new and old campuses of the college now have 21 professional teaching departments (colleges) and 17 majors. It covers 15 arts majors and 2 interdisciplinary majors (industrial design, public utilities management), with a total of 115 professional directions. The college has the most abundant music and Art Literature Library and audio-visual library in Southwest China.

The college has the right to confer master's degrees in musicology and fine arts, and the right to confer master of Arts (MFA) from the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. Composition and composition technology theory, keyboard instruments are identified as provincial key disciplines, composition major, piano major, vocal music and string art in normal universities are identified as provincial key courses. National key scientific research projects such as "Research on southwest minority musical instruments" and "Research on Southwest Silk Road" have made achievements, among which one won the second prize of national science and technology progress award.

Since the reform and opening up, 4134 teachers and students have won 4414 awards at all levels, including 460 international awards and 3954 domestic awards. In 2000, our students Li Yundi and Chen SA won the first and fourth place in the 14th Chopin International Piano Competition respectively, and Wen Wei won the third place in the international Sibelius Violin Competition in 2006, winning honor for our motherland. In 2005, Li Yuchun, a senior student, won the top five of the super girls. The college has Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, Concert Orchestra and National Orchestra, College Student Choir and affiliated high school women's Choir. In recent years, it has held hundreds of high-level concerts in the United States, Western Europe and Southeast Asia (including Vienna Golden Hall).

The college has established good cooperation and exchange relations with more than 30 music and art colleges abroad. Every year, dozens of foreign experts and scholars come to visit, teach and exchange performances.

Party and state leaders Jiang Zemin, Li Peng, Li Lanqing, Zeng Peiyan, Zhou Yongkang, etc. have come to the school to inspect and watch the performances of teachers and students of our college, have discussions with the leaders of our college, and get together with teachers and students. Provincial and municipal leaders at all levels are very concerned about the development and construction of the college. They have come to the college many times to investigate and listen to the development report of the college.
