Hunan Nonferrous Metals vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as nonferrous metals vocational and Technical College) is a full-time ordinary college approved by Hunan Provincial People's government, put on record by the Ministry of education, and funded by Hunan Nonferrous Metals administration. The new campus of nonferrous vocational college is 20km away from Huanghua Airport. The three expressways of Beijing Zhuhai, Changsha Zhuzhou and shangrui and the intercity light rail of Changsha Zhuzhou Xiangtan meet nearby. The regional advantages are obvious and the traffic is very convenient. The college covers an area of more than 600 mu, with high starting point planning and high standard construction. The first phase is based on the scale of 8000 students. With a total investment of 600 million yuan and a total construction area of 160000 square meters, all the campus buildings are newly built. The campus is full of trees and the environment is very beautiful.

According to the principle of "industry demand and market demand", the college has more than 20 specialties, including Department of resources and environment, Department of metallurgical materials, Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, Department of construction management, Department of basic courses, Ministry of continuing education and national vocational skill appraisal station. The majors of metal mining, geology, surveying, mineral processing, metallurgy, metal materials and heat treatment are unique among the national higher vocational colleges, and it is the first higher vocational college in China to offer rare earth engineering technology. In October 2013, the college took the lead in establishing the first regional vocational education group in Hunan Province - Zhongnan nonferrous metals vocational education group, which gathered more than 100 vocational colleges, scientific research institutes and national well-known enterprises as school enterprise cooperation units, carried out the direction of Vocational Education Collectivization, strengthened the docking of Vocational Education and market talent demand, and radiated Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Guizhou and Xinjiang Eight provinces and autonomous regions.

At present, the college has more than 6000 students and more than 300 teaching staff. It has signed "school enterprise cooperation agreement" and "letter of intent for entrusted training of high skilled talents" with more than 200 enterprises and institutions inside and outside the province, such as Hunan Nonferrous Metals Holding Group, and has established more than 60 practice training bases in large enterprises, such as Zhuzhou smelting group. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has reached more than 98%, and they have been rated as the advanced colleges and universities in the province's enrollment and employment work.

The college actively implements the strategy of "going out", has carried out "seamless connection from college to university" with four undergraduate colleges in the province, and has established cooperative relations with relevant universities and enterprises in Germany and South Korea. In 2013, the graduates of the college entered the undergraduate colleges in the province, the University of Applied Science and technology in North Hessen, Germany, and the University of South Korea, providing a good development platform for students.
