Guangdong dance and drama vocational college is a public full-time vocational college of art. It was approved by the people's Government of Guangdong Province in February 2012 and registered by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. It is directly under the Department of culture of Guangdong Province. Its predecessor is Guangdong opera school and Guangdong dance school, which has a history of more than half a century.

The establishment of the college makes up for the "short board" of stage art education in our province and fills in the blank of Higher Vocational Education of drama, dance performance and stage art in our province. Since its establishment, under the leadership of the Provincial Department of culture and the guidance of the Provincial Department of education, the college has accelerated the transformation and development, the campus construction is changing with each passing day, the teaching staff is gradually growing, the professional construction is booming, and the education and teaching are thriving.

The college has three campuses in Foshan, Guangzhou Tianhe and Yuexiu, covering an area of more than 300 mu and a construction area of more than 80000 square meters. The campus follows the concept of "Lingnan landscape, cultural campus, complete functions, dynamic and static" and is composed of four functional areas: teaching area, living area, sports area and popular science area. There are drama and dance training ground, piano room, training concert hall, large and small theater, national standard dance hall, art design training room and computer room, psychological consultation laboratory, library and other standard teaching and teaching auxiliary venues and facilities.

Through two ways of internal training and external introduction, the college creates a teaching staff with solid foundation, excellent technology, high professional level and educational level, and reasonable age structure. At present, there are more than 300 teachers with bachelor degree or above, including more than 200 teachers with graduate degree, senior professional title and double qualification. A group of national famous professors and artists are specially invited to teach.

The college takes the road of running a school with its own characteristics. We should establish the school running idea of "focusing on the stage, cultivating talents" and construct the school running pattern of "Trinity", that is, the integration of technical secondary school and junior college, the integration of stage performance and stage technology, and the integration of small stage and large stage ". There are more than 20 training directions in five departments, namely drama department, dance department, music department, art design department and social culture department. Among them, Cantonese opera performance is one of the first batch of national cultural inheritance and innovation demonstration majors in Vocational Colleges in China, dance performance is the major construction major of Higher Vocational Colleges supported by the central government, and stage art is the only major in our province.

The goal of training is changing from simply meeting the technical skills and industrial needs to meeting the students' all-round development; the training specification is changing from fragmentary technical skills to mastering the complete and systematic process; more courses are provided to make students' learning gradually change from "compulsive" to "independent choice"; The responsibility of teachers has changed from imparting knowledge and skills to helping students "learn to learn, learn to live and learn to be grateful".

The college pays attention to the construction of campus culture.
