The predecessor of Ningxia Business Vocational and technical college is Ningxia economic and Trade Vocational and technical college. In October 2002, with the approval of the people's Government of the autonomous region, Ningxia business school, Ningxia economic and trade school and Ningxia supply and marketing school were merged and formed. In September 2006, with the approval of the people's Government of the autonomous region and the record of the Ministry of education, it officially became more popular. It is one of the key demonstration vocational colleges in the autonomous region.

The college covers an area of 1560 mu, with a total teaching equipment value of 9.4314 million yuan and a collection of 444700 books. There are 247 teaching staff, including 153 teachers. Among the teachers, there are 1 Professor, 54 associate professors, 59 lecturers, 54 "double qualification" teachers, 42 national examiners, and 43 postgraduates (including those studying). There are 3671 students, including 3062 vocational students. The college mainly aims to cultivate high-quality skilled talents in two major fields of modern service industry and industry. It has 22 Higher Vocational Specialties, including mechatronics, biochemical technology, biotechnology and application, computer network technology, computer multimedia technology, cooking technology and nutrition (halal), hotel management, marketing, accounting computerization, etc Real estate, hotel management, marketing for the autonomous region level backbone demonstration professional. The college has carried out a wide range of school enterprise joint education. In 2007, the college successfully passed the national talent training level assessment. In August 2008, with the strong support of the Party committee and the government of the autonomous region and the correct leadership of the Education Department of the autonomous region, the construction of the new campus of the college and the Ningxia vocational education experiment and training base officially started, with a construction area of 220000 square meters and the construction of 140000 square meters in the first phase.
