Taizhou is a famous cultural city with a history of more than 2100 years. It was built in the Southern Tang Dynasty, Wenchang and Northern Song Dynasty. It is also one of the 15 most developed central cities in the Yangtze River Delta region in China. It is an advanced equipment manufacturing base in Jiangsu Province and a national biomedical innovation base. In 2015, it ranked among the top 50 GDP cities in China.

Taizhou vocational and technical college is a public university established with the approval of the former State Education Commission in March 1998. It is also the first higher vocational college in Jiangsu Province to be titled as "Vocational and Technical College". It has a history of nearly 60 years and has been running all over the country.

The new campus of the college is located in the national pharmaceutical high tech Zone, adjacent to China Pharmaceutical City, covering an area of 1190 Mu and a building area of 243600 square meters. It is a first-class modern campus, ecological campus and cultural campus in China.

The college always adheres to the development strategy of quality based, talent based and characteristic based. It is the construction unit of Jiangsu Province's demonstrative higher vocational colleges, the "excellent" grade college assessed by the Ministry of education, the first batch of harmonious campuses in Jiangsu Province, the advanced unit of student funding, and the advanced collective of college graduates' employment in Jiangsu Province. Its school running reputation is widely praised by the society.

There are more than 670 teaching staff in the college. Among the full-time teachers, there are 6 provincial 333 training objects, 13 provincial blue project, 17 municipal 311 training objects, 192 deputy senior titles or above, 239 master's degrees or above, and 76% of them are "double qualified" teachers. The college has 7 secondary branches, including Electromechanical Technology College, medical technology college, economics and Management College, information technology college, pharmacy college, architectural engineering college, art college, basic science department and ideological and political theory teaching department. It has more than 40 specialties, including 2 national key construction specialties, 3 provincial key construction specialties, and 5 provincial characteristic specialties. There are more than 9000 full-time students, and the employment rate of graduates has been maintained at more than 99%.

The college has more than 110 professional laboratories and training centers, including national nursing training center, computer application technology training center, provincial mechanical and electrical technology productive training base, construction engineering technology comprehensive training base, and 234 internship and employment bases in cooperation with enterprises and institutions. The library has a collection of more than 1 million books and more than 1000 newspapers and periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages.

The college is one of the first five provincial vocational education and skill training colleges for retired soldiers in Jiangsu Province. It has carried out various kinds of training more than 15000 people a year. There is a national vocational skills appraisal institute, which can carry out more than 30 vocational skills training and appraisal.

In recent years, our college students have won four special prizes, eight first prizes and two consecutive group first prizes in the Provincial College Students' mechanics competition, participated in the national college information technology innovation and practice competition, and won the first prize of "robot shopping group"; participated in the Provincial Vocational College Computer Skills Competition, and won the only first prize of application programming group in higher vocational colleges; Participated in the national "Rijin Cup" oral technology exhibition, the "Tianyan Cup" nursing teaching achievement exhibition, the national environmental protection professional skills competition of higher vocational colleges, the national marketing skills competition, the art and architectural design competition of higher vocational colleges, and won many awards.
