University of Defense Science and technology

The University of national defense science and technology is a national key comprehensive university under the dual leadership of the Ministry of national defense and the Ministry of education. It is included in the key construction of the national "985 Project" and "211 Project". The predecessor of the school is the military engineering college founded in 1953 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, referred to as "Harbin military engineering". In 1970, the main body of the University moved south to Changsha and was renamed Changsha Institute of technology. In 1978, it was rebuilt as National Defense University of science and technology. The school is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province, China, covering a total area of 373 hectares.

After more than 50 years of construction and development, the university has become a comprehensive university covering science, engineering, military science, management, economics, philosophy, literature, education, law, history and other 10 disciplines. At present, the university has 10 colleges with more than 40 departments, institutes and laboratories, including 4 state key laboratories and 1 Ministry of Education Key Laboratory. Some disciplines represented by 10 national key disciplines are at the leading level in China. In the overall level assessment of national first-class disciplines from 2007 to 2009, computer science and technology, information and communication engineering, systems science, optical engineering, management science and engineering, aviation and Aerospace Science and technology entered the top five.

The school has nearly 2000 teaching and research personnel, including more than 300 professors. At present, there are more than 14000 students, including 8400 undergraduates and 5600 postgraduates. The university has 25 undergraduate programs, 112 master programs, 69 doctoral programs and 11 post doctoral research stations.

The University attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, has academic contacts with more than 100 universities and research institutions in more than 40 countries and regions, and has signed cooperation agreements with more than 20 well-known universities. Every year, hundreds of foreign scholars come to the University for lectures and academic exchanges, and more than 700 people are sent to attend international conferences, visit and study abroad on business.
