Chongqing Electric Power College, founded in 1953, has a history of more than 50 years. It is a full-time ordinary college to cultivate higher applied technical talents for the country. The school is located at the north end of lijiatuo Yangtze River Bridge in Chongqing, with convenient transportation and beautiful environment.

Since its establishment 50 years ago, the school has accumulated excellent school running tradition and experience, and has trained and transported nearly 30000 various kinds of specialized talents for the national power system and other industrial and mining enterprises and institutions, enjoying a high reputation in the society. The school covers an area of 19.42 hectares, with a construction area of 130000 square meters. At present, there are 353 teaching staff, more than 300 full-time and part-time teachers, including more than 90 professors, associate professors, associate researchers and other senior titles. The school enrolls students from all over the country, and now has more than 4000 full-time students. The school has six teaching departments in its headquarters, including the Department of power engineering, the Department of electric power engineering, the Department of computer science, the Department of management science, the Department of quality development teaching, and the Department of practice teaching. In addition, it has a teaching division of electric power higher vocational education and a teaching division of Higher Vocational Education in the Three Gorges Reservoir area. The school offers: power plant and power system, relay protection and automation of power system, thermal power plant, centralized control operation of thermal power plant, power plant chemistry, computer control technology (thermal detection and control technology direction), logistics management, electronic information engineering technology, computer network technology, software technology, electronic measurement technology and instrument, marketing (Power Marketing) Sales direction), power supply and consumption technology, hotel management, e-commerce, graphics and image production, computer application technology, power system automation technology, power plant equipment operation and maintenance (thermal power direction), engineering supervision (construction engineering technology direction), power plant equipment operation and maintenance (hydropower direction), etc. The school has complete teaching facilities and functions, including 500kV substation / power grid simulation center, computer center, audio-visual teaching center, voice laboratory, multimedia classroom, campus network, management information system and other advanced teaching facilities and campus training base, as well as standard playground, gymnasium and other sports facilities. Taking teaching as the center, the university continuously promotes specialty construction and scientific research, and has achieved 23 provincial, municipal and national scientific research achievements. In December 2004, it successfully passed the national Ministry of education's talent training level evaluation of higher vocational colleges, and the evaluation conclusion is "excellent".

The school has established a "employment oriented, quality-oriented, ability centered" talent training mode, adheres to the "strict, detailed, practical and new" education and teaching management, and trains students to "learn, work, cooperate, develop, serve and live". In 2004, the employment rate of graduates reached over 96%, and the school was awarded the title of "advanced collective for employment of college and secondary school graduates in Chongqing" by the general office of Chongqing Municipal People's government. The university has established a "college to university" channel with Chongqing University, Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications, Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing Institute of technology, Chongqing Jiaotong University, etc. In 2004, Chongqing Electric Power College and TAFE Central College of Western Australia established TAFE Chongqing International College of Western Australia, which enables students to enjoy world-class teaching resources without going abroad.
