Shandong Vocational College was founded in 1951, upgraded to Jinan Railway College from 1958 to 1963, and was announced as one of the first batch of national key technical secondary schools in 1980. In 2000, the people's Government of Shandong Province approved the transformation of Jinan railway machinery school into Shandong Vocational College. In November 2004, the college was changed from the Ministry of Railways to the Department of education of Shandong Province. It has trained more than 40000 technical talents with both political integrity and ability for the railway and Shandong Province. The campus covers an area of 825 mu, with a construction area of 255000 square meters. There are six departments of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information engineering, civil engineering, bioengineering and management, with 8701 students.
