Chicken blood plum

[source] it is the root or leaf of Prunus armeniaca.

[plant morphology] apricot and plum. Also known as: red plum, autumn root.

Deciduous trees. The branches are straight and smooth when young. The leaves are oblong lanceolate, 7-10 cm long, apex acuminate, margin obtuse toothed, smooth and glabrous, pale green above, reticulate veins below; petiole short, with 2-4 glands above. Flowers solitary or 3 clusters, with short pedicels, white flowers, 2-2.5 cm in diameter; sepals 5; petals 5; stamens numerous; pistil 1, style long. The stone fruit is nearly round, slightly flat, 3-5cm in diameter, purplish red, with deep seam mark. The fruit stalk is short, and the flesh is reddish brown, sometimes yellowish. The stone is small and rough, semi inverted and close to the flesh. The flowering period is April. The fruiting period is August.

It grows on roadsides, around houses and low mountain areas. It is cultivated all over the country.

The seed of this plant is called "Da Li Ren" in Sichuan and used as Li Ren. Please refer to "Li Helin" for details.
