Wuhu Gao'an street is located in the South Bank of the Yangtze River, 6.37 kilometers of the golden coastline of the Yangtze River.

The territory is flat with abundant rainfall, mainly producing grain, cotton, vegetables and other crops. It has three important water systems such as Gaoan River, Hengshan River and gujia River, and four pumping stations such as beigeng, Yongqing, Nanwei and Gaoqiao.

Hengshan commune was established in 1958, Gao'an commune was established in 1961, and Gao'an township was established in 1984. In 1996, it covers an area of 45.2 square kilometers and has a population of 31000. It governs 14 administrative villages including Yihe, Nibu, Xiangshan, Yumin, Gao'an, Jishan, Hexi, Hengxi, Yuxi, Nanwei, laowei, gaoanqiao, Caoshan and Shishan. At the end of 2003, Gaoan township was abolished and merged into Fanyang town. In 2006, Gao'an neighborhood committee and Caoshan village, Baixiang village, Gao'an village, Yumin village, Yihe village, Nibu village and Jishan village under Fanyang town were included in Xingang town. On January 27, 2010, with the consent of Anhui provincial government, the six administrative villages of Gaoan, Yihe, Jishan, Caoshan, Yumin and Baixiang in Xingang town of Fanchang County and Nibu neighborhood committee were put under the jurisdiction of Sanshan district. Gaoan street was established and Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge comprehensive economic development zone was entrusted to manage it. The whole area was incorporated into the new area of Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge Comprehensive Economic Development Zone, and entered into large-scale development and construction The golden period of great development. In 2020, the State Council approved the cancellation of Sanshan district and Yijiang District of Wuhu City in Anhui Province and the establishment of a new Yijiang District of Wuhu City, with the former administrative areas of Sanshan district and Yijiang district as the new administrative areas of Yijiang District, and Gao'an street as the subordinate.
