Hedong District

Hedong District is subordinate to Linyi City, Shandong Province. It was founded in early 1995 and got its name because it is located on the East Bank of Yihe River. Located in the southeast of Shandong Province, between 118 ° 22-118 ° 40 E and 34 ° 35-35 ° 20 N, facing Lanshan district across Yihe River in the west, it is one of the three municipal districts of Linyi city.

Hedong District has a population of 857000 (2019) and an area of 834 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 11 towns, 278 administrative villages (communities) and 538 natural villages. Hedong area is mostly plain terrain, climate is temperate monsoon semi humid marine climate. Hedong District mainly has Tangtou hot spring, Linyi International Film and Television City, the former site of the New Fourth Army headquarters and other attractions.

Historical evolution

During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, this area successively belonged to the state of Fei, the state of Lu and the state of Chu.

The Qin Dynasty belonged to Langya county.

In the Western Han Dynasty, it was established as Qiu county (Zhu Qiu Yi before the Administration), belonging to Donghai County. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was changed to Langya County, namely qiuhou state.

In the second year of Yong'an (529) of the Northern Wei Dynasty, northern Xuzhou was set up immediately by Qiu Zhi, which governed dongtaishan county and Langya county.

In the early Sui Dynasty, it belonged to the Department of governor of Xuzhou. In the 16th year of kaihuang (596), Linyi County was set up from Jiqiu County, and its administrative office was set up in the former North Xuzhou Institute. In the first year of Daye (605), Linyi County was set up from Jiqiu county.

During the Tang Dynasty, Linyi County belonged to the Five Dynasties.

The Song Dynasty belonged to Linyi County, Yizhou, Dongjing East Road.

Yuan Dynasty belongs to Yidu road Yizhou Linyi County.

From the Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, the county was replaced by the state, belonging to Yizhou.

From 1734 to 1913, it belonged to Lanshan County, Yizhou Prefecture.

In 1913, it belonged to Linyi County of Jining road; in 1925, it belonged to Linyi County of Langya road; in 1928, it belonged to Linyi County of Shandong Province. In February 1936, it belonged to Linyi County, the third administrative region of Shandong Province.

The revolutionary base area belonged to Linyi County from 1958 to 1963 and county-level Linyi City from 1958 to 1963. From 1963 to 1983, it belonged to Linyi County. From September 1983 to 1994, it was a county-level Linyi city. Hedong District was established in December 1994. At the beginning of 1995, Linyi County was set up as a city, and Hedong was designated as a new district.
