Brief introduction to sanem (Korla sanem)

Applicant: Korla City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

Korla sainaim is a traditional song and dance of Uygur people living in Kongque River Basin in Xinjiang.

Korla sanam usually performs in weddings, festivals, and various masillets. The outstanding features of the dance are its bright rhythm, graceful and comfortable movements, the graceful expression of emotions by the dancers, the graceful posture in the change of movements, and the whirlwind like rotation, all of which are extremely pleasing to the eye.

Korla sainaim consists of three paragraphs: 1. Before the opening, the music "Muqam" is played first, followed by the old Muqam artist who takes the lead in singing "Muqam". Before each group's solo performance, first sing two "Muqam". 2. After the singing of Muqam, the tune turns to the song of sanem, and the dance of sanem begins. 3. In the climax of senem's dance, dancers express their deep and subtle emotions in various body movements and the form of eyebrows and eyes. At this time, the audience have joined the ranks of dancers, the whole scene lively.

Sanam, a traditional singing and dancing art, is indispensable in the life of the Uygur people in Korla.
