Applicant: Mozhugongka County, Tibet Autonomous Region
Xuan dance is a unique folk dance in Tibet, which is mainly popular in Zhada County, located in the valley of the Sino Indian border. Its origin can be traced back to the period of ancient Xiangxiong civilization, and Xuanwu has been further developed in the period of Guge Kingdom, which has a history of more than 1000 years. The murals in the red temple hall of the Guge site clearly show the traces of Xuan dance. The murals show the grand ceremony held by the king of Guge to welcome the adixia master. Among them, ten women in gorgeous costumes are dancing Xuan dance. According to historical records, in 1042, Xuanwu performed as a ceremonial dance at the ceremony of welcoming adixia master in Tuolin temple.
Puduibaxuan dance is an ancient Tibetan self entertainment song and dance, "Xuan" is Xiangxiong language, which means song and dance. Comparing puduiba's Xuan dance with the famous folk arts of yangrigang and Zhangda, which are located along the zhikongyan River in the upper reaches of Lhasa River, shows its status and influence. According to Zhigong FASI written by Zhigong danzengbai majiancan, the 12th generation of Zhigong FASI guanding great master dunzhujiebu (living in about the 14th century) standardized and developed the original puduba Xuan dance from the aspects of content, action, clothing, etc., which greatly improved its artistry and appreciation, enriched and improved it, and thus reached its peak. During the period of the fifth Dalai Lama, the puduibaxuan dance once went to Sangye temple to participate in the grand performance of Tibetan literature and art, and won high praise.
The puduibaxuan dance can only be performed at important ceremonies such as welcoming the Dharma king of Zhikong, the king of Dharma sitting on the bed, and the opening of the temple. This kind of dance costumes are luxurious, and ordinary families can't bear it. In popular places, such as bangcangcang, BeiXue Cang, zatangbencang, zhongdui, Zhongmai and other big families can only perform Pudui bashuan dance in the form of errands.
Puduibaxuan dance combines the main Tibetan folk arts, such as Tibetan opera, dance, rap and so on.
