Bee drum drum drum dance of Bulang Nationality is the general name of Bulang drum dance. It originated from the creation legend and sacrificial activities of Bulang Nationality, and spread in the Bulang villages in Bangbing Township and Dawen township of Shuangjiang Lahu wa Bulang Dai Autonomous County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province.
The bee drum drum dance of Bulang Nationality is composed of three parts: the bee drum dance (Keguang), the elephant foot drum dance (keguangjin) and the handkerchief dance (xijiaopajie). It has five routines, three steps and five steps. Among them, the "three-step dance" is gentle and slow, and the "five step dance" is vigorous. Bee drum drum dance is suitable for both square and stage performances. The number of participants can be large or small. The Bulang people often line up in one or two lines and dance easily on the road or square in the stockade. These participants can be divided into male and female teams. The male team dances and knocks the bee barrel drum on the back of the body, which is romantic and natural; the female team dances and shakes with the rhythm of the drum with a towel in hand, which is joyful and free. In the process of the dance, percussion instruments such as elephant foot drum, golden Mang, Gong and cymbal are accompanied from the side. The whole dance scene is spectacular and graceful, showing a strong appeal.
Bee drum dance is a unique dance of Bulang Nationality. It reflects Bulang people's view of history, morality, values and way of thinking with its unique dance vocabulary, and expresses Bulang people's desire for a better life. It has strong national cohesion and artistic appeal, and has high research value in the fields of ethnology, folklore and sociology. At present, the traditional Blang people's Bee drum dance is under the impact of fashion culture, so it has become an urgent task to rescue and protect it.
