Yongding River is the mother river of Beijing. Because of the terrain, the Yongding River Basin suffered from many floods in history, so the name of the river is related to the desire to avoid disasters and live a stable life. There are a lot of legends about Yongding River in Yongding River Basin, whose basic feature is that legends are related to historical facts and reflect the shadow of history in legends. Among the numerous legends, the most representative are the legend of river blocking, the legend of Shijingshan and Shijingshan, the legend of buffalo in Yongdinghe Town, the legend of old man Wang planting willows on riverbanks, the legend of general Feng severely punishing old soldiers, the legend of the origin of Mayu village, and the legend of liuniang house.

The legend of Yongding River is vivid, rich in content, and has strong local color. It is the crystallization of the wisdom of the people on both sides of Yongding River.
